Fans slammed ABC after discovering that their new bachelorette Charity Lawson does not have a custom emoji like the leads from previous seasons

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Fans of 'The Bachelorette' are not happy with how their new lead is not getting the same degree of attention from the show's production crew as previous leads. On June 26, 2023, viewers took to Twitter to share their disappointment after they noticed that there was no emoji for Charity Lawson along with the #TheBachelorette hashtag.

The use of emojis by brands on Twitter and elsewhere has increased by 461% year over year. There's a reason for this -- those tiny smileys and hearts make people feel good about the firms that utilize them. Brands on Twitter may create bespoke branded emojis that are activated when a certain hashtag is used. 'The Bachelor' series has embraced this tactic in the past by acquiring its own special emoji to go along with the show's hashtag, but things didn't stay the same in the current season of 'The Bachelorette'.

No custom emoji for Charity

The US Sun previously stated that Charity was not just a fan favorite, but also "a producer favorite" from the start. "Charity was set up by producers to be the next Bachelorette from the beginning," an insider stated, adding, "They purposely convinced Zach to keep her around until close to the end."

According to the insider, their strategy worked since at the same time, the 26-year-old software executive "developed feelings for her," but "producers definitely played a part in keeping her there for a while." According to the source, other candidates picked up on Charity being a producer favorite, and some even "had a feeling from night one" that she would be around.

As per the insider, there were several "signs" during the season that Charity will be the next Bachelorette. "She had a lot of shining moments this season, and a lot of screen time. It was purposely orchestrated like that by producers," according to the source.

However, the recent promotional strategy (or lack thereof) has made viewers question if Charity really is the producers' pick. As fans all around the world engage in sharing live reactions on Twitter, mostly when the episodes air, they get to use the hashtag for the shows from the Bachelor Nation to help them skirt through the unnecessary tweets. In recent years, ABC has taken the initiative to have its own custom emoji to go along with these hashtags to make things more fun. One of the recent examples is Zach Shallcross, the lead of the last season of 'The Bachelor'.

However, when they noticed no such thing was done for Charity, viewers took to Twitter to call out ABC.
