Will Costco, one of the nation's largest big-box retail stores, be open on the 4th of July? Will shoppers still be able to snatch those famous hot dogs for a buck fifty?

To many Americans, the Fourth of July is equivalent to fireworks, backyard barbecues, and peppy summer parties. On this very patriotic day, hungry families may be looking to buy food items and cutlery in bulk. Well, "in bulk" is Costco's motto — or at least it should be.

There's perhaps not a better brick-and-mortar store for any given person's shopping needs than Costco. Strolling through the aisles of the spacious, friendly-staffed, air-conditioned warehouse, the options are limitless. There's rotisserie chicken steaming on the shelf, tissue boxes of Kirkland Signature stacked up to the ceiling, prime cuts of meat, hot dog buns, tablecloths, napkins, picnic blankets, canned cocktails and mocktails — you name it, it's there.

So heading into Independence Day, many fellow Americans are probably wondering, will Costco, the symbolic embodiment of U.S.A.'s spirit and ethos, be open?

Unfortunately not. Costco will not be open on July 4th.

Costco 4th of July hours for 2023

Costco stores across the nation will close their doors to the American people on this celebratory holiday, and their workers will get a day of rest.

That means no $1.50 hot dogs or cheap pizza slices or berry smoothies, swirled yogurt or twisted churros.

People looking for a glizzy (or forbidden glizzy) will have to look elsewhere. Mothers, fathers, and nannies trying to do last-minute shopping will have to go the weekend or the Monday before. Even though Costco's colors are essentially red, white, and blue, the hundred-billion-dollar corporation is giving its employees a day off on July 4th.

So if you need to stock up on jumbo boxes of party essentials or if you need to replenish your grilling supplies, best to make the trip to Costco now. Good luck avoiding the crowds.
