Tottenham Hotspur are continuing their search for a permanent successor to former head coach Antonio Conte, and Celtic are bracing themselves for an approach for Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to step up their interest in Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou at the start of June and the Scottish champions believe an approach is forthcoming, sources have told 90min.

Spurs are continuing their search for a permanent successor to Antonio Conte, who was sacked towards the end of March. He was initially replaced by his former assistant, Cristian Stellini, before Ryan Mason took interim charge for the final six games of the 2022/23 season.

Though Tottenham have long insisted they do not have a top target for the role, they have held talks with various candidates. Luis Enrique sat down with Spurs back in April, while they also pursued Julian Nagelsmann before backing away from the German in recent weeks.

They then turned their attention to Arne Slot, only for the Dutchman to sign a new contract at recently-crowned Eredivisie champions Feyenoord.

Names that are still on Spurs' shortlist include out-of-work pair Brendan Rodgers and Graham Potter, while they have been alerted to the possible availability of Wolves' Julen Lopetegui.

90min understands Tottenham have carried out their due diligence on Postecoglou of Celtic. The Australian was coy when asked about his future prior to the Hoops' final Scottish Premiership game of the season.

Celtic believe Postecoglou is a leading candidate for the Spurs job and they could receive an approach following this Saturday's Scottish Cup final against Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Postecoglou currently operates on a 12-month rolling contract, though Celtic are now trying to tie him down to a long-term deal in order to stave off the threat from Spurs.

But given his long route to get to this stage of his career, there are fears the 57-year-old could view this as one last chance to manage a major side in the Premier League.

Postecoglou has never managed in a top-five European league but has impressed during his two-year stint at Celtic for implementing an entertaining style of play, while he has been praised for his recruitment from the Asian market and charisma.
