The Cardinals were absolutely throttling the Yankees on Saturday when mother nature called "Uncle!"

With the first game of a doubleheader at 11-1 in favor of St. Louis, a rain delay was called in the seventh inning at around 4:35 p.m. ET.

A restart time has not been revealed.

Cardinals rain delay update: Cardinals-Yankees restart time after weather delay

As NYYRainDelay on Twitter pointed out, no one wanted to call a rain delay on an 11-1 game but with lightning in the area safety had to win out.

The big question now is whether the game will be able to be resumed. Friday's game was canceled because of weather, prompting the doubleheader on Saturday. If the rain causes too long of a delay, it could get in the way of the second game starting on time.

Considering the score line, it would probably be preferable to all involved to call it and get ready for Game 2.

However, no official announcement on that front has been made, so it's just a matter of waiting until more information is learned.

St. Louis shelled Luis Severino in his four innings of action. The Yankees pitcher gave up nine hits, including two home runs, and seven earned runs. Paul Goldschmidt started things off in the third inning with a three-run bomb. After two more runs scored in the fourth, Nolan Gorman kept the party going in the fourth with a two-run shot. The fifth inning featured more joy for the Cardinals with three more runs piled on to make it 11-0.

In the top of the seventh, Oswaldo Cabrera drove in a run to prevent the Yankees from being blanked.
