The Tampa Bay Rays are in one of their first rough patches of the 2023 season, losing six of their last 10 games, including two straight heading into Friday's matchup with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Tampa Bay is heavily favored at home against the first-place Brewers, who will have Adrian Houser (0-0, 5.19 ERA) making his third start of the 2023 campaign.

He's going up against Cy Young candidate and Rays ace Shane McClanahan (7-0, 2.34 ERA) who has been lights out to start the season.

McClanahan did have his worst outing of the season against the New York Yankees his last time out, but does he bounce back in this spot?

Here's a look at the latest odds:

Brewers vs. Rays prediction and pick

This is a dream matchup for McClanahan and the Rays.

Milwaukee ranks 29th in MLB in OPS against left-handed pitching, and now the Brewers have to take on one of the game's best lefties tonight.

McClanahan had not allowed more than two runs in a star prior to his last outing, and I expect him to bounce back in a big way in this spot.

Meanwhile, Houser has yet to get out of the fifth inning in a start so far this season, allowing 15 hits across 8.2 innings. That's going to be tough to do and win against the No. 1 offense in baseball, regardless of who Tampa Bay was pitching.

The Rays have seven wins by two or more runs in McClanahan's nine starts this season. I love Tampa to cover in this spot on Friday.
