The start of June has gone a bit differently for the Detroit Tigers than it has for the Atlanta Braves. Yesterday, the Braves lost to Washington, their second loss of the month which ended a seven game win-streak. Meanwhile, the Tigers have yet to win a single game in June and have lost nine straight. Atlanta comes into this three-game interleague series in Detroit at 40-25 while the Tigers are 26-37.

The first-place Atlanta Braves will send Charlie Morton to the mound in Game 1 tonight. While Detroit has yet to name a starting pitcher for this one, they are already big underdogs at home. Let's take a look at the odds.

Braves vs. Tigers odds, run line and total

Braves vs. Tigers prediction and pick

On May 31, Riley Greene suffered a leg injury and has been on the IL since. Even after missing all of June so far, Greene still leads the Tigers in hits with 60, mostly because I'm not sure if they've gotten any without him.

Last year, Detroit's offense was a disaster and it's the reason they were one of the worst teams in baseball. This season, those struggles looked to be a thing of the past behind Greene's .805 OPS and five home runs at the top of the order. Now that Greene is out of the lineup, the Tigers are 29th in OPS, .544 last in runs scored with just 19 in June, and last in home runs with six. As a team they are hitting .176 this month.

The Braves meanwhile are hitting 308, have hit 16 home runs and have a league best .880 OPS this month. Ronald Acuna Jr. has been a monster all season and Matt Olson is up to 18 home runs on the year despite only hitting one so far this month.

Charlie Morton has been good on the mound for Atlanta, but even if he had been amidst the worst stretch of his career he'd still be good enough to get outs against Detroit. The Tigers don't scare me for one second and I love the Braves run line tonight.
