Pete Alonso and the Mets have been on the wrong side of Karma ever since Alonso yelled the words 'throw it again!' towards the Braves Bryce Elder.

Trash talk, bat flips, stare downs and an occasional taunt are all part of the new age of baseball. These things can be seen in every level of the game, from high school to the MLB. Players dish it and players are willing to take it when it comes back to them.

There hasn't been a more viral account of trash talk going bad in the MLB than when the Mets Pete Alonso yelled "throw it again!" towards the Braves pitcher after a third inning Alonso home run. Oddly enough, the Braves pitcher, Bryce Elder would go on to record the win in this game.

New York Mets have entered a downward spiral ever since Pete Alonso's 'throw it again!' taunt

Alonso hit this home run to take a 4-1 lead over the Braves on June 6. Since then, over an 18.5 game span, the Braves have caught fire and scored 133 runs in those games. The Braves are 17-3 over this span, putting them as the hottest team in baseball since June 6. They're winning games, having fun and growing their lead in the NL East.

The Mets on the other hand, have done the exact opposite. On June 6, they were just 6.5 games back from the Braves in the NL East, showing true promise on being able to compete in their division. After this taunt, the Mets proceeded to get swept by the Braves in the three-game set from June 6th to June 8th. They have also gone 5-13 over their last 18 games and dropped to 16 games back in the division, ultimately ending any hope of them winning the NL East.

Karma came back to bite the Mets pretty bad due to this trash talk. Maybe the Mets and other teams in the league will think twice now before talking too much trash and disturbing the baseball gods.
