The Suns have just traded for Bradley Beal, making a massive mistake which may cost them a title with Kevin Durant going forward.

According to Shams Charania, the Suns have traded point guard Chris Paul, shooting guard Landry Shamet, second-round picks, and multiple first-round swaps for Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal.

The top three players on the Phoenix roster are very solid. The rest of the roster is not at all. They have no one else.

The Suns are in a really tricky spot after trading for Beal. The only real asset that they have left is Deandre Ayton. They most likely do not have any picks to trade (including pick swaps after this move).

Yes, Beal did choose to go to the Suns via the leverage he had with his no-trade clause. Still, this team could have just not traded for him and opted for depth this summer. It would have been the better move.

What are the Suns missing on their roster after trading for Bradley Beal?

This team does not currently have a starting power forward under contract. They are over the salary cap and do not have a power forward on the roster. They currently have two players on their bench after trading for Beal. This was a very dumb move.

The Suns just got out of a playoff series with the Nuggets where they struggled to find enough suitable players in the rotation.

They do have Ayton who could turn into two role players but this team needs five suitable rotational players at the very least. They do not have the means to do this unless players take massive discounts in free agency. Considering they do not live in a tax-free state, that is very doubtful.

The luxury tax considerations are another thing when it comes to all this. The Suns will likely be over the second luxury tax limit when it comes to filling out their roster. With the new CBA, it is highly dangerous to be over the second luxury tax apron. They cannot access most of their mid-level exceptions going forward as a result.

Also, they will be unable to trade the limited number of tradable picks they have when they start to become available in the coming years because of new rules restricting trades of draft picks more than seven years out.

The Suns are in a very bad situation going forward and they are going to end up regretting trading for Bradley Beal. This team has the potential to be the KD-James Harden-Kyrie Irving Brooklyn Nets 2.0
