Aurelien Tchouameni denies Gavi was responsible for his foot injury during El Clasico.

Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has denied claims that Barcelona midfielder Gavi was responsible for his foot injury.

Tchouameni was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his foot after playing 90 minutes in the weekend's Clasico, with reports suggesting he could miss as much as two months of action as a result.

Searching for the source of the injury, footage emerged on social media blaming a collision with Gavi. The Barcelona midfielder caught Tchouameni on the foot and left him limping, sparking accusations that Gavi was responsible.

In response to the footage, Tchouameni wrote on social media: "It's not Gavi's fault. I was injured at the end of the first half."

Tchouameni's absence leaves Carlo Ancelotti with a major hole in midfield. Eduardo Camavinga is likely to become Madrid's starting anchor while his fellow Frenchman recovers, while Toni Kroos played that role last season but has attracted criticism this year for his lack of mobility.

Luka Modric is also searching for more minutes after a frustrating campaign which has seen him start just three games in La Liga.

One boost for Madrid is the imminent debut of attacking midfielder Arda Guler. The Turkish teenager underwent knee surgery shortly after joining during the summer and suffered a setback in his attempt to return.

Guler is back in training and, after missing El Clasico, local reports suggest he could make his debut in the Champions League clash with Braga on November 8, after next weekend's clash with Rayo Vallecano.
