Arne Slot has told Feyenoord that he wants to take the job at Tottenham if he's offered it. The 44-year-old lifted the 16th Eredivisie title of the Dutch club's history at the weekend, seeing off the threat of PSV Eindhoven.

Arne Slot has told Feyenoord that he's keen to take the managerial job at Tottenham Hotspur, 90min understands.

The Dutch coach has enjoyed a wonderful two-year spell at Feyenoord in which he's guided the club to a European final - the UEFA Conference League final in 2022 - and to a first Eredivisie title since 2017, despite losing some key players in recent transfer windows.

Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique are among the high-profile names to have been linked with the Spurs vacancy, but 90min understands that Daniel Levy and the club's hierarchy have been impressed with former AZ Alkmaar boss Slot, in terms of on-field performance and during initial talks.

Slot has now also confirmed his keenness to take the job at Spurs too, telling his current club that he wants to join the Lilywhites if offered the position.

90min understands that the 44-year-old is now seen as the favourite to take over at Tottenham, however the unemployed Enrique and Sporting CP boss Rubin Amorim have not been officially ruled out of the running.

In order to pull the trigger on a move for Slot, Tottenham need to agree a compensation deal with his Feyenoord, and talks between the two clubs and Slot's agent Rafaela Pimenta around the compensation amount are set to accelerate this week.

The permanent managerial post has been vacant at Tottenham ever since Antonio Conte was sacked at the end of March following a torrid run of form in which the club were knocked out of both the UEFA Champions League and FA Cup in quick succession.

Since Conte's sacking, things haven't gotten much better under two caretaker managers. Cristian Stellini oversaw a truly disastrous 6-1 defeat at the hands of Newcastle United before swiftly leaving the club, while Ryan Mason has watched his team lost consecutive games against Aston Villa and Brentford in recent weeks.
