Apple plans to launch a new OLED iPad Pro in 2024. That’s according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who posted his predictions for the new iPads on Medium Sunday.

According to Kuo, Apple will release a 10.9-inch iPad Air and a new 12.9-inch version of the iPad Air in 2024. The 12.9-inch version won’t get the mini-LED display used by the Pro but will have an oxide backplane.

Kuo says there will be two M3 models of the iPad Pro next year, both of which will trade the mini LED display for an OLED one and will use the iPhone 15 Pro’s LTPO backplane.

Kuo says he also expects a new 11th generation of the standard iPad as well as a new iPad mini to arrive during the second half of the year.

Kuo notes that employees returning to the office as well as a structural change in how users use the device for entertainment and productivity have caused a decline in demand for the tablet. Kuo says iPad shipments are expected to be around 52-54 million units in 2024, which is up from 50 million in 2023, but still significantly lower than the 63 million iPads shipped in 2022.

Kuo’s thoughts on the iPad Pro mirror what we heard back in August from Bloomberg Apple reporter Mark Gurman. In August Gurman said that the tablets may also potentially have a revamped Magic Keyboard with a larger trackpad, making the tablet work even better as a laptop replacement.

In October, Kuo suggested that the new iPads would arrive in Q1 of 2024, and Gurman suggested that the launch would happen likely around March.
