Apple might be releasing a Mac mini with an M3 chip early next year.

In his weekly Power On newsletter on Sunday, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says that Apple is currently testing a new Mac on its campus with an M3 chip. Gurman has previously reported on next-generation iMac and MacBook Airs and MacBook Pros, and given the new computer’s configuration, he speculates that the new device is a Mac mini.

“The Mac in testing includes eight CPU cores (made up of four efficiency cores and four performance cores), 10 graphics processor cores, and 24 gigabytes of memory. This machine is running macOS Sonoma 14.1, the first point update to the upcoming new Mac software release,” he says.

As for when we might see the Mac’s debut, he speculates that won’t come until next year. Citing Apple’s last earnings call, Gurman says that Apple has suggested that its Mac revenue will see a double-digit percentage decline in the fourth quarter, which suggests it won’t be launching a new one until next year.

Here's the full lineup of what he expects currently based on what's in testing at Apple:

Earlier this year Gurman speculated that the new M3 computers would likely drop in the second half of 2023, so the 2024 release date is a bit of a change from that prediction.

Beyond the Mac news, Gurman also speculated about the upcoming iPhone 15 launch in today’s newsletter. He says that he expects the new phone to likely be announced either September 12 or 13th, which means we only have a few more weeks to wait before the phone is revealed.
