One Apex Legends player has proposed a way to avoid teammates running into unfriendly Caustic traps by accident.

In a post on the Apex Legends subreddit, user Lazer93 published a suggestion to end a standing player issue regarding Caustic's traps. Caustic, one of the playable characters in Respawn Entertainment's popular battle royale, can throw out traps that damage enemies as they get close or run through them. However, it can sometimes be difficult to tell which traps belong to the teammate or friendly Caustic, and which are the opponents.

Lazer93 has an idea to clear up the confusion.

Color-Coding Caustic Traps Could Solve Player Confusion

The idea, itself, is simple. Friendly Caustic traps will be accented in blue while enemy traps will remain red. This way, players can check the color of the trap before they approach it.

This idea seemed pretty popular with players in the replies. Several noted that this exact situation already happened to them and they would be in favor of the change. Others wanted to take it even further and color both the trap and the gas it releases. This is a major problem in Control maps, specifically, where Caustic often dominates team composition.

"I just had a game where this happened," wrote johnnyjoestah, "
Shot the enemy caustics trap to set it off thinking it was mine and it damaged my teammates because he thought it was my trap. Then a few games later he shot my traps thinking it was an [enemy's]."

"I had 2 different games in control where one of my teammates was shooting my traps HE WATCHED ME PUT DOWN," SteelFuxorz wrote.

GrandmasterSluggy wrote, "The whole argument they always made was that caustic is supposed to be playing by himself in a way and allies shouldn't be encouraged to enter the gas...the idea of having a teammate who discourages team play is fucking stupid. You define Watson's fence color, define caustics. Combat readability is not a bad thing."

Others called it a useless change and that mechanics to keep teammates safe already existed in the game. The ping system, for example, could be used as a way to tag friendly vs non-friendly traps. Additionally, players may be able to detect the traps on their minimap.

Regardless of the counter argument, however, the number of legends who received this treatment already and its popularity among the playerbase speaks for itself.
