A recent point of contention in Apex Legends has been the subject of 'pay-to-win' emotes.

While not pay-to-win in the typical sense, some players have argued that emotes, especially those that can be used in the air, are essentially pay-to-win as they can make it harder for enemies to hit you while using them.

A good example of this is Loba's skydive emote. If a player uses this emote in the air, Loba will begin to teleport around the screen, making it virtually impossible for enemies to get a clear shot in. This can be used both offensively and defensively as it works when trying to surprise enemies from the sky, letting the attacking team take the offensive without fear of repercussion.

Outlined in the video by Skeptation are even more examples of emotes that, if used properly, can help players get an advantage. These emotes have sparked the debate over whether or not these should be allowed since it gives players who use them properly an advantage without the need for skill.

While there are plenty of people who are outspoken in saying that emotes like this should be removed from the game or simply integrated in a smaller capacity, Respawn has yet to speak out about pay-to-win emotes.
