Respawn Entertainment lead game designer, Devan McGuire, acknowledged various Mirage bugs in a Reddit AMA on Thursday. Several players have reported bugs associated with Mirage and his decoy ability since around 2020, ranging from the decoy getting stuck in place, decoys being easily identifiable, to enemies downed by the decoys self-reviving themselves. Several photos and videos which document the numerous occasions in which gameplay with Mirage is stifled by bugs can be easily found as players try to navigate through them.

Mirage, who launched with seven other playable characters alongside Apex Legends' 2019 release, has quickly reached popularity with his unique abilities. In 2019, a "dating profile" was showcased on the official website, which provided more backstory to Mirage's sought-after character, and in 2021, a special Mirage Edition of Apex Legends was released, featuring exclusive items.

The Reddit AMA, which featured McGuire and senior game designer Eric Canavese, addressed several bugs, concepts, and details about additional playable characters. In a question about potential fixes to Mirage bugs that have reportedly been appearing "since day one," McGuire responded by alluding to potential future improvements.

Although Mirage bugs were specifically acknowledged, fixes for the extensive list of potential bugs were not concretely confirmed. This acknowledgement will hopefully be a step forward in improving Mirage's playability.
