Are the Los Angeles Angels for real?

Los Angeles has taken two on the road from the first place Texas Rangers in a heater AL West series that is serving as a bit of a measuring stick series for the Halos. LA will go for a third straight win on Wednesday with left hander Reid Detmers going up against fellow southpaw Andrew Heaney.

Here are the odds for the third game of four:

Angels vs. Rangers odds, run line and total

Angels vs. Rangers prediction and pick

Both teams dominate left handed pitching, and I'll follow the script on Wednesday.

The Rangers are hitting .289 against southpaws, good for fifth in the big leagues, while the Angels are eight at .267. Neither pitcher is all that good either, Detmers of the Angles is allowing teams to hit .377 on batted balls in play. He has gotten by with elite strikeout numbers, punching out nearly 11 per nine innings, but the Rangers are around league average in strikeout rate and are dangerous when it puts bat on ball.

I'll side with Texas getting the bats going on Wednesday, but Los Angeles should also be able to plate enough runs. Heaney walks nearly four batters per nine innings and allows a ton of hard contact, allowing a home run on nearly 16% of fly balls this season.

Overall, I can't trust either pitcher on Wednesday, so I'll back the over after the past two games have combined for 15 runs and 10 runs, respectively.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
