SPAIN: Amber Heard has reportedly begun to live like a Spanish while embracing the language of the country after moving there. The ‘Aquaman’ actress moved away from Hollywood and US soil after she lost a legal battle against her ex-husband Johnny Depp last year. She and Depp were involved in a blockbuster trial that kept people across the globe hooked for over a month.

As per reports, the mother of one has also opted for a new name in the new place. She has apparently made Martha Jane Camary her new identity. An insider spilled as per Marca, “I can reveal that Heard left Hollywood and quietly moved to Spain with her young daughter Oonagh. She is bilingual in Spanish and is happy there, raising her daughter away from all the noise.”

'The trial was beyond stressful for her'

The source added, “I don't think she's in a hurry to go back to work or Hollywood, but she'll be back when the time is right, for the right project.” Also, another tipster told People last month, “She has been living in Spain, where she gets more privacy. The trial was beyond stressful for her, and she just wanted to start fresh out of the country. She is excited about working and filming again.” They shared, “She was exhausted and disappointed about the trial. She felt she was mistreated. This is all behind her now, though. She has new energy and is focused on things that she loves.”

'It sets back the clock'

Heard and Depp were married for less than two years and that period was filled with controversies. Even after the divorce, the former couple had issues with each other, and the ‘Zombieland’ actress went on to write a piece on domestic violence, which Depp’s team believed was a target on him, ensuing the court fight. However, the case result mostly favored the ‘Edward Scissorhands’ actor and Heard was asked to give $10.35 million in damages to him.

Later, in December, the duo agreed to a settlement, which made the 37-year-old pay $1 million to Depp. After the judgment in June 2022, Heard expressed her anger and shared, “The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. I'm heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband.”

She added, “It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke up could be publicly shamed and humiliated. It sets back the idea that violence against women should be taken seriously. I believe Johnny's attorneys succeeded in getting the jury to overlook the key issue of Freedom of Speech and ignore evidence that was so conclusive that we won in the U.K.”

Heard also gave an interview with NBC News in which she claimed as per PEOPLE, “I am harassed, humiliated, threatened every single day. Even just walking into this courtroom, sitting here in front of the world, having the worst parts of my life, things that I've lived through, used to humiliate me. People want to kill me, and they tell me so every day.”
