The Rock may star in an Amazon Studios adaptation of It Takes Two.

Amazon Studios has begun development on a film based on Hazelight Studios' critically acclaimed cooperative adventure It Takes Two, Variety reports. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is set to produce the film, and may star.

The adaptation is set for "priority development" at Amazon, with dj2 Entertainment ("Sonic the Hedgehog," Netflix's Tomb Raider anime) and Johnson's Seven Bucks Productions ("Jumanji," "Jungle Cruise") to produce. Pat Casey and Josh Miller, who wrote the two Sonic the Hedgehog films released over the last two years, will write the screenplay and serve as executive producers.

Dj2 Entertainment is also developing a show based on "Disco Elysium" and a film based on "Sleeping Dogs."

Hazelight released It Takes Two in March 2021. Its story follows a human couple hurtling toward divorce who, through mysterious and magical circumstance, are transformed into living dolls made by their daughter. The two are forced to work together as they try to return to their normal selves, learning to better negotiate their relationship in the process.
