Alphonso Davies has confessed he feels 'stuck' in his current role at Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies has admitted he feels 'stuck' in his current left-back role and would be keen to return further forward on the pitch.

Davies broke through as a winger for MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps and his performances in that position earned him a move to Bayern in January 2019, but despite initially being used in that attacking role in Germany, he was quickly moved to left-back and has remained there ever since.

Now widely heralded as one of the best left-backs around, Davies has confessed he is still keen to return to his roots and become a winger once again.

"I was signed to replace Arjen Robben," Davies told the Say Less podcast. "And when David Alaba got injured, I was then used as a full-back. And now, three, four years later, I'm stuck there."

Davies also admitted he was "waiting for the chance to player further forward".

Davies will enter the final two years of his contract with Bayern this summer and his agent has already admitted the instability in the boardroom at the Allianz Arena could see him delay talks over an extension until next season.

The uncertainty over his future has seen Davies attract plenty of interest from both Manchester City and Real Madrid, and the Canada international's agent recently confessed he has already spoken with a handful of clubs.

However, Davies' admission that he would like to return to a forward role could complicate things for both City and Real, who are known to be looking for new left-backs in the near future.

Davies bagged eight goals and ten assists in his final MLS season playing as a winger with the Whitecaps but has been forced to accept more of a reserved role in Munich.
