Frank Gore is back in the Bay Area, but it's not in his familiar role as the starting running back of the San Francisco 49ers.

The San Francisco 49ers will have some new faces at the controls this fall, but history has taught us that there is always a resolution on the other side. For a decade, Frank Gore was arguably the heart and soul of the offense, racking up over 1,000 yards in eight of his 10 years with the team.

Ahead of the 2023 season, Gore, who last saw an NFL field as part of the New York Jets' 2020 roster, is back in the league, this time as a front-office executive.

Gore's agent, Malki Kawa, who represents several NFL athletes and MMA fighters, took to Twitter to congratulate Gore on giving back to the sport that defined his legacy and helped pave the way for his son, Frank Gore Jr., to embark on his own career path.

"Congrats to my brother, Frank Gore, on taking a job with the 49ers front office," Kawa wrote on his Twitter account Saturday. "He was the first person to tell me I should become an agent almost 20 years ago."

Kawa also included the following in his Instagram story caption, adding to the significance of his achievement.

"Congrats @frankgore," Kawa wrote. "If only people knew what they said about you when we were kids, they would understand the pride I'm feeling right now."

Frank Gore could act as a liaison for the 49ers' running back room

With the drama surrounding NFL running backs and contract hold-outs, such as Saquon Barkley's recent disgruntlement with the New York Giants, the addition of Gore to the 49ers could help ease the process and re-sell the dream as to why the running back position is undervalued when it shouldn't be.

The NFL preseason kicks off Thursday night when the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns play in the league's annual Hall of Fame game ahead of the Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony, which is scheduled for Saturday at noon.
