The tennis world descends on the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club over the next two weeks for this year's Wimbledon.

The third grand slam of the 2023 season features Novak Djokovic's pursuit of history. Djokovic broke a tie with Rafael Nadal by winning his 23rd slam at the French Open, giving him the most in men's history, and now will try to continue to win his first ever calendar slam by winning Wimbledon and later on the U.S. Open.

Djokovic has been in incredible form this year, 27-4 overall, and enters as the odds on favorite to win the tournament with very few proven players on grass in his way.

The only other Wimbledon champion in the field is Andy Murray, who has had his career derailed by injuries, but No. 1 in the world Carlos Alcaraz has emerged as a threat. The second choice to win won the Queen's Club Championships last week, his first grass title. He is on a collision course with French Open quarterfinalist and top 10 player Holger Rune in the quarter finals.

Djokovic is an overwhelming favorite to come out of his quarter despite playing no grass court matches to ramp up for this tournament and is going to be lightly challenged by the likes of Lorenzo Musetti and Andrey Rublev en route to the semifinals.

Some other players that will look to breakthrough are the likes of Taylor Fritz and Jannik Sinner, who are on track to face in the Round of 16. Fritz lost a thriller to Nadal in the quarters last year in five sets, while Sinner has yet to make it to a Grand Slam semifinals in his young career, but has made the quarters in all four grand slams.

Wimbledon gets started on July 3 with the Finals on July 15, here are the outright odds:

Novak Djokovic (-160)

Nobody likes to lay the chalk, but this is a (maybe) two man race between Djokovic and Alcaraz.

Like the French Open semis that was highly touted, Alcaraz lacked the physical form for a five set match of that magnitude as he cramped up at Roland-Garros and eventually lost in four sets. I expect a potential matchup to feature even more trouble for the rising Spainard, who has limited experience on grass and won't be able to keep up with Djokovic, who has won seven times here.

Nobody has the ability to serve big enough and return with enough proficiency to knock off the Serbian. He's going to draw even closer to the calendar slam with an easy Wimbledon title.
